Annoying false labor

Ugh! Last night I had the most annoying false labor and I barely got any sleep. Firstly, because whenever I *think* these contractions could turn into the real event, it gets my mind excited. I try not to get all worked up and I just keep going about my normal life, but even with the idea way back in my head, it's impossible to ignore. And these contractions were a lot stronger than any of the other Braxton-Hicks I've been having. So last night while trying to sleep, I timed several contractions at 10 minutes apart and tried really hard to get back to sleep. I finally drifted off around 3am, only to be awoken by a strong contraction and back pain at 4am. And I was hungry. So I got up and ate a snack and moved around a little and looked up the differences between false labor and real labor on the internet. Wouldn't you know that I fit some of the indications for both categories? The strength and location of the contractions matched the descriptions of real labor, but over time, they proved to be more irregular and as I moved around, the contractions and back pressure went away. So I went back to bed and slept till morning.
So now I'm vexed because not only am I still pregnant, I also am very tired because I didn't get much sleep last night. Well, kids are at school for now, so I'm going to go back to bed for a bit.

You're bringing back memories, Val. :) Maybe try a bubble bath and just a bit of wine? I know when I went into what at least seemed like actual labor to everyone (but which went on for days), that is what my midwife told me to do. That and eat toast with honey and eggs so that I would have energy when the time DID come.

I wish you a restful night tonight!

Oh, Val. It's bringing back memories for me, too. Late-night googling of symptoms. I will pray for rest for you. Hugs!
