Well, it's already been 2 months and I still haven't gotten a chance to sit down and blog about my sweet, precious Carter. Right now he's sleeping on my chest and I'm waiting for the series finale of LOST to begin, so I thought I'd try to finally write this blog that I've been writing in my head for so many weeks.
Carter is a very sweet baby. For the past week or so, he's been getting a lot better at smiling. At first he would smile in our quiet, calm moments together, but now he's smiling at his brothers in all their craziness and today at church he even smiled for strangers. He's starting to laugh a little. Cute, airy laughs.
He's growing super fast. He's already grown out of 0-3 month size clothes and fits perfectly into 3-6 month. His 2 month check-up is tomorrow, so I don't know his current stats, but at his 1 month check-up he was in the 75% for height and weight.
He's been a pretty good sleeper for me. He usually only wakes up once a night, sometimes twice. I had heard that there were babies that slept well on their own, but I thought it was a myth. Needless to say, I'm so grateful for this sleep. I don't know how I would function on a daily basis if I didn't get sleep at night. When Casey doesn't have to work in the morning, he usually gets up with the older boys, packs Coulson's lunch, takes him to the bus stop and gets Charlie to preschool so I can sleep in.
He's a good sleeper in his crib (well, pack-n-play with bassinet insert) at night, but he doesn't like to sleep on his own during the day. He falls asleep while I'm holding him, but wakes up within 5-10 minutes after I lay him down. And when I lay him down sleepy, he just becomes wide awake. Once in a while, he'll fall asleep in the swing or stay asleep when I lay him down. I'm hoping that he'll gradually get more used to sleeping on his own. In the meantime, I'm loving the moments when I can just sit on the couch and cuddle him while he sleeps. (Update from the first paragraph, Carter woke up so now he's laying on the couch next to me making cute baby noises, oops, starting to get fussy...)
